Romeo #5700
Romeo #5700
Adopted 7/11/03

I am a lovable, housebroken, neutered, young adult cat who would love to move to that special home where I could have a little more freedom and human company.

I have tested positive for FIV (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus) and negative for FeLV (Feline Leukemia Virus).  I can still live a long happy life with your special care.

FIV is spread primarily by biting.

Romeo #5700

FIV is not spread from sharing food or water dishes or by petting.  So here's all I need:

  • To be indoors at all times. (So I won't spread FIV.)
  • To live with another friendly cat, be the only cat in the house, or live with an FIV positive cat.
  • To live in a house that is not stressful to me.
  • To get nutritious food to eat!
  • To have someone who understands my disease and will take good care of me.
  • To go to the vet at least once a year and whenever I need it.
In return I will be the best friend you've ever had!!!

Romeo joined us 5/18/02 as a stray.  He likes cats, is housebroken, playful, friendly and easygoing.  Romeo is a great big teddy bear with lots of love to give.  He is a special needs cat as he has tested positive for FIV and so should be an inside only cat.  #5700

Romeo Makes Himself at Home

Well, I have a new home!  It's a house with lots of windows so I can bird- and squirrel-watch.  There's only two people here, so it's quite a change from the shelter with all its comings and goings, but the ones  here are trying to make sure I'm not bored.

I have the run of most of the house, but I'm still trying to figure out when the woman will let me on the kitchen counter and when she'll say "off" and move me.  I'm getting the hang of it gradually.

I have a scratching post of my own and the silly woman keeps trying to tempt me with new toys when she knows my favorite is scrunched-up paper, but she's learning.  She lets me share her recliner when she's reading, but, in the evenings when the TV is on, her needlework is very annoying flapping on my back, so I usually use the man's lap (such as it is) or the loveseat..

I have lots of food and water and a litter box that's regularly cleaned.  I try to show my appreciation for that by using it as soon as it's been cleaned.

I  think I'll stay!!
