The Animal Rescue Site GreaterGood.org (GGO) is proud to announce that the first 2010 "ANIMAL RESCUE SITE $100,000 SHELTER+ CHALLENGE — together with PETFINDER.COM" will grant up to $100,000 USD in support and assistance to select domestic and international animal rescue and welfare organizations.

Click here or on the mini-poster to go to their website and vote for the Florence Area Humane Society in Oregon from Jan. 18 through Apr. 18.  Once at their site, look for the Shelter Challenge tab on the right and click on it to get to the voting page.

The Florence Area Humane Society, located in Florence, Oregon, is made up of volunteers dedicated to assisting homeless or abused companion animals in our area.  We also seek to educate people about such animal-related issues as cruelty and pet overpopulation.

Our operating budget, which includes no tax dollars, is derived primarily from donations and the profits of our Bay Street Thrift Shop.  Additional budget sources include fund-raisers, grants, and member dues.

COATS FOR CUBS

Coats for Cubs is a nationwide effort by The Humane Society of the United States to collect and provide bedding and comfort to orphaned and injured wildlife.  Give your 'real' fur apparel, including trims, accessories, animal fur toys, and shearing for this worthy cause.  Give your furs back to the animals.

Here are two ways to donate:
   1. Our Thrift Store on Bay Street.  This is the source for collecting in Florence.
   2. Your local Buffalo Exchange store, 131 E. Fifth Ave., Eugene.

Animal licenses (Florence and Lane County) are available at the shelter
Some of our animals can be seen and adopted in Eugene on most Saturdays and Sundays at PETsMART (2847 Chad Dr.) from 10am to 4pm.  Volunteers needed to help.  Click here for Volunteer Application.
